Annette is a Co-Founder, Board Member and the Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Reinsurance Brokerage Soltions (RBS), the first and currenlty only reinsurance broking services provider in Rwanda. Prior to establishing RBS, she was the Founder and Director of CUZO Insurance Brokers, a direct broking company. The company attracted foreign investors’ interest, and she sold her shareholding to OLEA, a French-based pan-African insurance broker. She has over 10 years’ experience in the insurance industry at strategic management levels.
Annette holds a Master’s degree in Sustainable International Development from Brandeis University, USA. She also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration (BA) from University of Pretoria, South Africa.
Prior to joining the private sector, Annette served in the Government of Rwanda as Director General in the Ministry of Industry and Trade. She was in charge of industralization and SMEs. She spearheaded the “Made in Rwanda” policy and campaign. As Director General, she led public private partnership consultations that led to private sector-led implementation platforms, including setting up private sector expo fora, private financing initiatives and funding by financial institutions to support the policy and private sector operators.
She also worked with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) as a Coordinator for the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) pilot project in Rwanda (2 years). As a development practitioner, she has experience in coordinating income generating projects, resource mobilization, community mobilization, project development, planning/programming and management. She has skills in proposal writing, promotion and advocacy/marketing, report writing and networking for strategic partnerships.
